On March 16, 2026, the University of Maine System Board of Trustees approved Maine Law’s tenure nomination of Professor Scott Bloomberg, effective September 1.
“Professor Bloomberg has served on the Maine Law faculty since 2020 and has proven to be an indispensable member of our community,” said Provost and Vice Dean Jeff Maine. “He maintains a record of accomplishment in teaching, scholarship, and service that is truly exceptional. He is a nationally recognized expert in emerging fields of law, a transformative administrative leader, and a faculty member held in the highest regard by his students and peers alike.”
Since joining Maine Law in 2020, Bloomberg has played a leading role in advancing the law school’s academic and programmatic strengths. He serves as Director of Maine Law’s Center for Law + Innovation and the school’s Certificate in Privacy Law + Digital Governance, helping position the school at the forefront of the rapidly evolving field.
Bloomberg teaches courses in Information Privacy Law, Cannabis Law, Constitutional Law, and the First Amendment. In recognition of his outstanding teaching, he received the Professor of the Year Award in 2022.
A prolific scholar, Bloomberg’s work has been published in leading law reviews such as the Texas A&M Law Review, the First Amendment Law Review, the Pepperdine Law Review and the Oklahoma Law Review. Professor Bloomberg also helped to establish Maine Law’s Student Journal of Information Privacy Law.
