The Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act is a consumer protection law that aims to provide transparency regarding crime statistics for college campuses across the United States. The Clery Act directs all public and private institutions of higher education who participate in federal financial aid programs to disclose campus safety information, in addition to imposing certain requirements for handling incidents of sexual violence and emergency situations. As part of its compliance with the Clery Act, Maine Law publishes crime statistics, maintains public logs, and issues safety notices.
Maine Law shares its OPEID (Office of Postsecondary Education Identification) code with the University of Southern Maine. Accordingly, USM includes Maine Law crime statistics data within the mandatory annual submission to the U.S. Department of Education. USM is also responsible to track data for the residential life and campus housing facilities, including those that are used by Maine Law students. To review details regarding campus housing and residential life, please visit the USM Clery page and consult their Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. For other questions, please contact the Executive Vice President for Operations at 207.228.8774.
Maine Law began issuing its own Annual Security Reports beginning with the calendar year 2024. The reports along with the map of the Maine Law Clery geography are provided below.
